Father Flanagan traveled many places to further his mission of saving children. Today's 'Throwback Thursday with Tom' looks at his Asian tour in 1947.
On April 7th, 1947 at the invitation of the War Department, Father Flanagan began his Asian tour. Flanagan’s mission was to investigate the living conditions of the war orphans in Japan, Korea and the Philippines. In these countries, Father discovered many social service agencies were overwhelmed by the pressing needs. Father presented his final report, The Children of Defeat, to President Truman during a White House meeting.
