Hong Kong recorded two new
cases on Saturday, both linked to Britain, as health officials revealed that eight patients had tested positive again for Covid-19 after being discharged from hospital.
The new imported cases, which bring the total to 1,037, came a day after the city
for the second time in the past week.
The new patients were an 18-year-old female student who returned from Britain on Friday, and a 61-year-old man whose granddaughter and domestic helper was infected previously, according to Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan, head of the Centre for Health Protection’s communicable disease branch.
The man had travelled to Britain, returning to Hong Kong on April 7.
Chuang said eight patients had tested positive for the virus after being discharged from hospital.
“We have consulted experts who believe the virus could have been left over in the body after treatment and the risk of infection to others is low,” she said.
