Turkiye yesterday condemned an Israeli air strike that killed three Turkish nationals who allegedly attempted to cross the Lebanon-Israel border illegally.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry confirmed that contact had been lost with the individuals before learning they had been killed in the Israeli air strike. The ministry did not disclose their identities or the exact location of the incident.
Ankara stated it was working to expedite the repatriation of their bodies. “We condemn in the strongest terms this unlawful attack that resulted in the death of our citizens,” the ministry said, urging Israel to “immediately end its aggressive policies that disregard human life and escalate tensions in our region.”
The Israeli military has not issued a statement regarding the incident.
Israeli occupation forces continue to hold positions inside Lebanese territory in spite of a deadline for their complete withdrawal from the country now lapsing. The US announced over the weekend that a new deadline had been set for Israeli occupation forces to leave Lebanon by 18 February.
Despite the truce, Israel has violated the ceasefire for two consecutive days, launching repeated strikes on the southern part of the country. On Monday, two people were killed, following 24 fatalities the previous day.
