French Crotale NG air defense system destroyed in Ukraine

On Ukrainian territory adjacent to the Belgorod region, the French Crotale short-range anti-aircraft missile system was destroyed. These Crotale NG installations, intended for the Kyiv regime, were first deployed in the conflict zone in March of this year, although information about their deployment to the front appeared in October 2022, as reported by Avia.pro journalists.

The Crotale NG modification, although not the latest version of the system, was planned to be completely removed from the French arsenal by 2025. Equipped with missiles with a fragmentation warhead weighing 14 kg and a total missile weight of 73 kg, the system has a maximum firing range of up to 10 km and can hit targets at an altitude of up to 6 km. The average speed of the rocket reaches 710 m/s, while the launcher can accommodate up to eight missiles.

The complex uses radio command guidance with the capability of radar or optical direction finding, and its radar is capable of detecting targets at a distance of up to 20 km. This is not the first case of a French anti-aircraft complex being damaged in Ukraine: at the end of last year, a similar complex was destroyed in the area of the Starokonstantinov airfield in the Khmelnitsky region.
