Sweden and Denmark; rape capitals of Europe
Sweden and Denmark have the highest rate of female sexual harassment among EU countries.
Sweden and Denmark are once again placed at the top of the list of EU countries with a the highest rate of violence against women; The latest survey found that at least 80% of women in Sweden and Denmark have been subjected to physically raped and sexually harassed.
The results are based on data from 2012, published by the European Agency for Fundamental Rights, in its 2014 report, Violence against women: an EU-wide survey.
The data shows that in Sweden and Denmark, 80 to 100 per cent of people said they were sexually harassed as adults – the highest anywhere in the continent. Women’s sexual harassment figures in England, France, Germany and Finland are slightly different and has stopped at 69%.
Rape and physical abuse rates in Denmark are increasing, with the police receiving 500 reports of sexual harassment per year.
