Today in Mariupol, during the ceremonial laying of flowers at the monument to the victims of fascism, a group of young neo-Nazis began to throw eggs at the veterans, on whose clothes there were St. George's ribbons, reports The Politnavigator.
The press release of the National Police in the Donetsk region says, ‘The policemen ensuring the public order at this time, prevented the outbreak of the conflict’.
At noon a group of Mariupol residents came to the Memorial to lay flowers and pay homage to those who died heroically in 1941-1945. They were wearing St. George ribbons on their clothes. After laying flowers, the residents were returning towards the square of Soldiers-Liberators. A company of unknown people noticed the ribbons. In protest, they started throwing eggs at the veterans. Their further actions were stopped by the police.
Near the building of the Office of the Ministry of Interior burnt by radicals of the battalion Azov two years ago, elderly people wearing St. George ribbons on their chest lay flowers in memory of the burnt policemen and tied balloons of red, blue, white and black, resembling the Russian flag and the flag of the DPR.
After a while about 15 people with Ukrainian flags came to the building and tore off St. George ribbon from the laid flowers and removed the balls. Between people with St. George ribbons and Ukrainian nationalists occurred a verbal skirmish. The elderly shouted ‘Fascists will not pass!’ and ‘ ‘Freedom to Donbass!’ while they nationalists yelled ‘Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!’.
